The Ministry Of The Holy Spirit

As we move from one year to the next, I find myself thinking about ways we can be more effective in ministering to others. Over the past ten years, we have seen a lot of positive change take place in the lives of people, and one of greatest lessons I’ve learned is that no effective ministry truly takes place unless the Holy Spirit is leading.

Galatians 5:22-23

… the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control…

In 1 Corinthians chapter 3, it talks about how one person plants, another waters, but God gives the increase. We have a role. We get to participate. We need to be active. Yet, without the Holy Spirit there is no fruit.

In John chapter 15, the Bible explains that we were chosen and appointed to bear fruit. Our work of planting and watering will produce fruit to the degree we listen, follow, and obey the leading of the Holy Spirit.

As each of us move forward in this new year, I encourage you to cooperate with God and let the Holy Spirit lead your lives. If we embrace this simple mandate, our ideas and plans will be inspired by the Holy Spirit, our words and actions will be empowered by the Holy Spirit, and the fruit of our efforts will be realized as a result of the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

A man in prison who has been signing several others up for the Lessons For Life Course was moved this past month to another facility. He was only there for a couple of days before he began sending us new names from that location. It is exciting to see how God is working with some of these inmates to be missionaries on the inside.

Thank you for your support and prayers!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
